WaterCube

This building is dope! It is the National Aquatics Center in Beijing. Nicknamed the "WaterCube". It was built for swimming competition during and after the Olympics. Take a look at the pics.

Hero of the Month: Karl Lagerfeld

I know that it's not even February yet, but my hero is Karl Lagerfeld. Karl is the creative genius behind brands like Chanel, Fendi, Karl Lagerfeld, and others. He is also a noted photographer with is images being put in magazines such as Vanity Fair, Harpers Bazaar, and Vogue. Karl is a voracious reader and has mastered many languages. His designs for Chanel are continued to be loved by fans all over. Love him or not, you can't deny the man's talent!

Mark Cuban and Wifi

I read an interesting article on the blog of Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. He tealked about purchasing an ipod touch and the wifi capabilities that you can use it for. Until recently I have not noticed the potential for wifi beyond the computer, but when i read his blog my mind began to brainstorm.

1. you can use wifi to allow fans to be updated on game time decisions and injuries while they wait for the games to begin.


2. they have instant access to the teams website and blogs.


3. they are able to send messages to their favorite players and be seen on the scoreboard.


4. you can allow fans to send pictures of themselves to the scoreboard for the arena to see


5. It can generate wild amounts of revenue for owners and will make the experience more fun for the paying fans!

Bill Gates and Creative Capitalism

During the 2008 Davos economic forum in Switzerland, Bill Gates talked about Creative Capitalism and the effect it can have on the poor as well as the rich. He spoke on companies finding new ways to be innovative and create products that can beneift the poor and allow them to be educated and contribute to society. I feel that Bill Gates is on to something. We should try to use the technology around us to better this country and world. As America becomes more powerful so should the people living in it. The only way we can do that is by creating products that uplift the enviorment and the people living in it. There is a book called "The Wealth of Nations" by Adam Smith. In this he talks about Nations the effect that money has on people as individuals and the effect that workers have on the economy. It's a real interesting material to read. Bill Gates, Bono, Warren Buffett, Oprah, and others are making use of their wealth and focusing on empowering people so that they can change their surroundings.

Richard Branson the founder of Virgin Records has his sights set on space. For 200,000 you can venture into space for a short while. It is called Virgin Galactic and is set to take it's first voyage later this year!

New Janet!!!!!!!!!!!

This Feb. we have new music from Janet Jackson. The lead single "Feedback" is hot and the production on the album is crazy!!!!!!!! La Reid knows what he's doing when it comes to promoting a album. Janet will have a big year and probably her best album since "All for You". but thats just my opinion.

This is the ultimate men's store. Tom ford has done it again creating an enviorment that reflects his taste and point of view. Suits at the store can cost you upwards of 5,000. Even if you can't afford the clothes go for the experience!

chicago spire

this is another example of dope architecture. This one is by Santiago Calatrava. Once finished it will be the world's tallest residential building. Units are already selling like crazy. This building will give you the best views of chi-town.

this phone is off the hook!!!!! The only phone that looks better is the i Phone!

New York Fashion Week

Olympus Fashion Week in New York kicks off the first week of February. They have been so many exciting menswear designs from Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Versace, Armani, and the list goes on. I can't wait to see what american desingers like Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang, Oscar De La Renta will put out this season. Paris Fashion will be even crazier with designers like Chanel, Stella McCartney, YSL, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior and others. We all know their is no Fashion Week without the guru of style Vogue's Editor at Large Andre Leon Talley.

Palm Trump Hotel in Dubai

This has to be the best looking building from master marketer and developer Donald Trump. This one is in Dubai and it is already selling fast. Architecture at it's finest!

Apple Store on fifth avenue

check out the apple store on fifth avenue. this is architecture at it's finest on one of the richest blocks in the world! This apple store is 24 hours, for true apple lover like me this is tech heaven!

The architects for this work of art is Bohlin Cywinksi Jackson. They are also winners of the 2007 American Architecture Award. Congrats!

Steve Jobs:King of Marketing

Steve Jobs in my opinion is the king of marketing. He not only introduces new products into the marketplace with the same intensity as a evangelical preacher, but he brings excitement and fun to the world of technology. Once being kicked out of the company he founded, he formed NextStar. This company was thought to be in competition with Apple. Then jobs found out about pixar which was at the time owned by director george lucas. Steve not only turned pixar into a powerful entity in hollywood, he changed the way we see and think about movies. His return to Apple sparks great marketing and advertising and it's annual MacWorld Conference is the highlight of the year for tech geeks like me! For anyone studying marketing take a look at the way Steve introduces products to the audience and you will understand concepts such as the Big Idea, Branding, and Positioning.

Motivation: Following your Dreams

Sometimes in life you just have to reach out and go for your dreams. Finding the motivation can sometimes be tough. A lot of times we are bombared by the dreams of our parents, friends, and associates that we fill that our dreams aren't important. Everyone was put here for a reason and God doesn't make mistakes. Sometimes all it takes is a little push and you are on yor way to fulfilling your every desire. Russell Simmons always says "just a little bit of dreaming and a lot better than dying". We have to embrace the time we have and seize every moment. Then you will see your dreams beginning to come true!

Jay-z and Apple

As you may already know, there are some speculations about Jay-z and Steve Jobs forming a record label. This could become a big advantage to the techology sector seeing that the music industry has taken a blow. Music downloads and piracy has caused the record busines to suffer losses from cd sales and concert attendance. Jay-z's recent album "American Gangster" was only available in the store, you were not able to legally download the content. I think Jay-z has learned that if you can't beat them, then join them. Recently artist has avoided traditional record labels and have signed with starbucks, live nation, etc. These are all avenues to not only shy away from the record labels but to increase product awareness(starbucks, wal-mart) and even concert attendance.

Steve Jobs is a genius when it comes to marketing a brand. What he has done at apple since his return has not only been spectacular but has helped the stock price reach $200. Jay-z is great with branding hip-hop as something more than music but a lifestyle. It will be interesting to see these two minds come together to form a record label. This was going to happpen sooner than later and if done correctly will change the industry forever.

Daniel Snyder: Brand Genius

Yesterday, The Washington Redskins(my favorite team now thanks to EK) annouced the retirement of Joe Gibbs. This announcement not only shocked fans but questioned the future leadership of the team and Daniel Snyder. But before we get sad lets look at everything Snyder has brought to the franchise.

1. Increased home game atttendance and licensing


2. He increased the advertising and promotional nationally


3. Brought back season ticket holders who lost faith in the team


4. Consistently provides the team with star players

Rogan Jeans

One of my favorite denim brands recently has been Rogan Denim. There brand is a staple in the closets of celebrities and fashionistas everywhere. They are great to dress up with a blazer or to wear to a club. The fit is worth the price tag. They are simple but, they will quickly become one of your favorite jeans. During the summer they are teaming up with Bono to come up with a special line of denim jeans for charity. Now thats giving back!

My new favorite sport

My new favorite sport happens to be snowboarding, it not only is fun but it keeps you in shape and active. If you are going to go out and hit the slopes you might as well have a fly snowboard. These snowboards from Takashi Murakami are dope and so fly, that I would'nt even use them on the slopes.

Global Grind

Grind Grind is a new social network for hip hop fans. It combines the same formatting as myspace with the network and news from 360 hip hop. It's a new venture from Russell Simmons and it's sure to get rave reviews. They are also looking for interns in marketing, online advertising, web page design, etc. Hit me up if you are interested.
